I'm not very tech-savvy. Is this hard to use?
Not at all. If you can install an app on your phone, you can use Legitsy. You add it to Chrome in one click, and then a small button appears when you're on an Etsy listing. Click the button, see the result. That's it. Nothing to configure, no settings to adjust. We designed it for people who just want a simple answer: is this really handmade or not?
Does this change anything on the Etsy page?
No, nothing at all. Legitsy doesn't touch Etsy's website. A small floating button appears on the right side of your browser window — it's not part of Etsy's page. Click it, and a panel slides in from the side with the result. Close the panel, and it's gone. Etsy never knows you used it. Your shopping experience stays exactly the same.
Why can't I have unlimited checks?
Because every single check costs us real money. When you click "Check this item," we run a reverse image search through professional databases — that's not free. We could pretend to offer "unlimited" checks and then quietly throttle you, but we'd rather be honest. Free gives you 3 checks a day. Scout gives you 30. Hunter gives you 100. Most people never hit the Scout limit, even on a big shopping day.
Can Legitsy tell me something is definitely counterfeit?
No, and we'll never claim that. What we say is "similar item found on AliExpress" or "reseller match detected" — not "this is fake." We show you evidence: a matching product image on a mass-production website, with the price they're selling it for. That's a strong signal. But there could be explanations. We give you the information. You decide what to do with it. That's the honest way to do this.
What if it says "Clean" — does that mean it's definitely handmade?
A "Clean" result means we didn't find the product image on any of the 50+ reseller sites we check. That's a good sign, but it's not a guarantee. The strongest trust signal is the blue "Verified by Legitsy" badge — that means our team has manually reviewed the seller. For everything else, we give you the best information we can, and you make the call.
What's the difference between Scout and Hunter?
