Terms of Service

Plain language summary: Use Legitsy to make informed shopping decisions. We provide evidence — you decide. Don't abuse the service, and we won't abuse your trust. Sellers get a fair manual review process.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account, installing the Chrome extension, or using any Legitsy service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service. We may update these Terms with 30 days' notice via email.

2. The Service

Legitsy provides:

Listing verification: A Chrome extension that checks Etsy product images against reseller databases using reverse image search. Results are informational only.
Public bar check: A free tool on legitsy.io to check if a seller is Legitsy-verified by searching our database.
Seller Trust Badge: A manually-reviewed verification program for genuine handmade sellers on Etsy.
AI agent API (UCP): An API that allows AI shopping agents to query our verification data.

3. Important Disclaimers

Legitsy does not guarantee authenticity. Our service provides informational evidence based on reverse image search. A "clean" result does not guarantee an item is handmade. An "alert" result does not mean an item is counterfeit, fake, or fraudulently listed.

We say "similar item found" — never "fake," "counterfeit," or "scam." We surface evidence. You make the purchasing decision.

Legitsy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Etsy, Inc. All Etsy-related trademarks are the property of Etsy, Inc. We are an independent third-party tool.

4. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address and confirm it before accessing any features.
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU) to create an account.
You are responsible for all activity under your account.
One account per person. Sharing accounts or tokens is prohibited.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Buyer Plans & Usage

Free trial: 7 days of full access, then basic verdicts with 3 checks/day. No credit card required.
Scout ($5.99/mo or $59/yr): 30 checks/day, full results, 30-day history.
Hunter ($14.99/mo or $149/yr): 100 checks/day, full results, 90-day history, CSV export, seller recommendations.
Annual billing: Equivalent to 2 months free compared to monthly.
Daily check limits reset at midnight UTC.
Rate limits are enforced server-side. Attempting to bypass rate limits (via multiple accounts, automated tools, or API abuse) is a violation of these Terms and may result in account termination.

6. Seller Trust Badge

Sellers apply by submitting their Etsy shop URL. A valid, confirmed Legitsy account is required.
Applications are reviewed manually by our team within 2–5 business days.
Approval is at our sole discretion. We check product photos, shop history, visual search results, and craft authenticity indicators.
Approved sellers choose a plan based on shop size: Artisan (up to 50 listings, $4.99/mo), Studio (up to 200, $14.99/mo), or Atelier (up to 500, $29.99/mo).
All seller plans include: verified badge, AI agent visibility, 5 listing update requests per month, and full impression analytics.
The badge remains active as long as the subscription is paid. A 7-day grace period applies to failed payments.
We reserve the right to revoke a badge if we discover fraudulent listings, misrepresentation, or a significant change in shop content.
Listing updates are requested by the seller and processed by our team within 24–72 hours. If your shop exceeds your plan's listing limit, you must upgrade before requesting an update.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Bypass rate limits, authentication, or security measures
Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the service (except via our documented API)
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the extension or API
Use Legitsy results to harass, defame, or harm sellers or other users
Misrepresent Legitsy verdicts as definitive proof of fraud or authenticity
Create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits
Share, resell, or redistribute API access or check results commercially
Submit false seller applications or fake testimonials

8. Payments & Refunds

Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy handles all billing, tax collection, invoicing, and refunds.
You can cancel your subscription at any time via the Lemon Squeezy Customer Portal (accessible from your Legitsy dashboard). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact contact@legitsy.io within 14 days of a charge to request a refund.
We do not store credit card information. All payment data is processed securely by Lemon Squeezy.

9. Intellectual Property

"Legitsy" and the Legitsy logo are trademarks of Sahara Tides SARL AU.
The Legitsy service, extension, website, and API are protected by copyright.
You retain ownership of any content you submit (testimonials, application details). By submitting a testimonial, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on our website and marketing materials.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Legitsy is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.
We are not liable for any purchasing decisions you make based on Legitsy results.
We are not liable for any loss of sales, reputation, or revenue that sellers may experience.
Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time via your dashboard.
We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, with notice unless the violation is severe (fraud, abuse, illegal activity).
Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Morocco. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Dakhla, Morocco, unless otherwise required by your local consumer protection laws.
